Kerry Rice

Work from Kerry Rice: 09 August - 18th November 2012

Kerry Rice Zakynthos

Emerging fine artist and photographer Kerry Rice lives and works in Brighton, but has travelled widely and taken inspiration from locations around the globe. Her work provides a striking contrast between the grandiosity of epic natural landscapes and the private, intimate lives they play host to. In Kerry's work there is a strong feeling of the way in which our surroundings shape our lives, and the indelible and startling ways that our lives shape our surroundings.

Kerry was awarded a BA HONS degree in photography from the University of East London, and has been awarded two travel bursaries for her extensive work abroad, where she honed her craft and her love of visual storytelling. She has been a part of Freerange Arts Festival, as well as exhibiting in such vibrant places as Bethnal Green, Brick Lane, and Brighton's own Kensington Gardens. Kerry is currently exhibiting at the JAG gallery on Brighton seafront as well as at Gulliver's Hotel.

With this exhibition Kerry brings her studies of life within the ever changing vistas of the world to Kemptown. From the frozen seas of Finland, past the shifting political and architectural landscapes of Zakynthos, through the mountains and valleys of Andorra to the musical alleyways of Dublin, the work is a celebration of humanity's urge to explore and adapt, the planet's diverse and spectacular habitats, and the ability of art to bring it all together.
